Jimmccallum

Hi,
I’m
Jim McCallum.

I empower visionary CEOs of manufacturing companies to elevate their customer service, reduce costs, boost profits, release cash, and dominate their market sector, by uncovering their Super-Factory.

IN JUST TEN WEEKS.

Every company has one. Years ago, I uncovered mine. Now I help others do the same. All my 100+ clients had one. You just can’t see yours’ right now. So, my message to you is Invest in Success. Let’s unlock your full potential and make your vision a reality.

Way back, I ran a series of US subsidiaries in Europe. All manufacturers. All in competitive markets. I faced the same frustrations you do. Loads of problems every day. Too many hats to wear.

The businesses did okay. But I wanted to do better. I wanted to be the best in my sector if I could. And the best subsidiary in the corporation.

I talked to some consultants. They told me what I needed to do.

On-time delivery. Efficient manufacturing. Perfect quality. But I knew that. I wanted to know HOW to do it. And they couldn’t tell me that. How could they? They didn’t know as much about my business as I did.

And that’s why I had to figure it out for myself.

It took me a while to work it all out. But in the end, it all came down to the three elements I HAD to focus on. Customer Service.
Productivity. Right First Time.

But as an engineer, I like measures. How do I measure these? And how would I KNOW when I got to be the best?

So I figured out a series of ratios for these three elements that represented world-class performance.

And I could then see where I was on the scale, and how far I had to go to reach world-class. I had created my Path to Excellence.

Let me show you what I mean.

There are five stages. Innocence, Awareness, Understanding, Competence, and Excellence. And they reflect increasing performance in these three measures as you learn how to achieve them. Responsiveness measures customer service.

When I did this for my company, my performance was just left of centre. Where the red line is. But that also told me how far
I had to go to achieve Excellence. Or world-class.

And so I figured out what I had to do in each of these elements to move them to the right-hand end of the spectrum. And the green line shows where I got to.

And that transformed my business. I became the best in my sector. The best customer service. Highest productivity. Perfect quality. Released spare cash previously locked up in inventories. Had lower unit costs. Made more profits. And left my competition way behind. And stayed there.

A few years later, I became a consultant to manufacturing companies and showed them how to do the same thing. You could say I walked the walk before I talked the talk. And that’s quite rare among business consultants.

Gradually, I refined these ratios in the Path, so they now apply to most manufacturing companies. And using them, we’ll explore where you are against these world-class standards, where you want to be, and what’s in your way to achieving them. Then organise a concise plan of action to achieve them within a year.

Find out where YOUR red line is. And where YOUR green line can be. Your super-factory. Which will deliver all these super-benefits for you.

Get your products through faster. Lead time from weeks to days, from days to hours. Having 100% on-time customer service, lower inventories, and free up working capital to use elsewhere in your business.

Get more products through your existing facility. Typically increase your productivity by 50%, which gives you lower unit costs, more profits and price flexibility in your marketplace.

Get your products through 100% right first time. No defects, rejects or rework, less waste and higher yields, giving even higher profits.

That’s what I do. Relieve the stresses and frustration you face in running a manufacturing company. Help you make more money. Beat your competition. Get the best customers.

From all my years implementing my TYM Program with manufacturing companies, large and small, in different sectors, all over the world, I’ve found manufacturing companies divide into HAVEs and HAVE NOTs.

The HAVEs embrace change. They constantly aim to do better. Hire the best people, who are proud to work for them. Apply new thinking. Strive for success and enjoy it when it comes. Great places to work. Use external advisors to deliver positive step change. Have a performance, financial success and reputation other companies in the same market sector envy.

The HAVE NOTs? Well, they do little of that. Slow to move out of their comfort zone. Even in the face of continuing production and quality problems, or strong competition. Happy to survive on their okay performance. Feel step changes demand too much time and effort. ‘And we don’t have the people to do it anyway. Would be nice to make a bit more money, of course. But we’ve got to spend carefully.’

And yet, sometimes the HAVE NOTs become HAVEs. They see something that can transform their customer service, productivity and quality. All at the same time. That gives them financial success on both their top and bottom lines. And the chance to become the go-to company in their market sector.

What’s that something? My TYM Program. But don’t just listen to what the ‘experts’ SAY. Look at what they DO.

Other consultants take days, or even weeks, to analyse the issues you have with your present manufacturing process. I call that ‘Issues-led Consulting’. They then develop complicated value stream maps that you can’t understand. And you certainly don’t need.

In contrast, within a few hours, my unique TYM approach gives you a Practical Vision of what you CAN achieve. Where your ‘red line’ is. And where your ‘green line’ can be. That’s called ‘Vision-led Consulting’.
And gives you bigger results faster than any other approach. I summarise it like this.

‘Issues-led Consulting’ can deliver some benefits. Maybe 10% or more?
But with ‘Vision-led Consulting’, I take you a leap forward into a Blue Sky Vision, with potential 100% benefits. Which gives you a completely different view of your process. And then we add in some of your present constraints to identify your Practical Vision, Which gives you potential 50% or more benefits.
Your ‘green line’ position. And you decide where that will be.
In addition, I don’t use a bunch of fresh-faced young consultants that can’t talk sensibly on the shopfloor. No way. I use your bright young people in these roles. Who will develop into your senior managers of the future. They create YOUR VISION for you. There’s no better training for them.

The Modules are shown in the same sequence as the Chapters in the Book that accompanies my TYM program. And which you can buy from Amazon via the ‘Book’ tab on this website.

The Book is one giant case study, showing step by step how I transform a typical pharma manufacturing company and its people from ordinary to the best in their sector through my TYM program.

The company is an amalgam of my clients from the US, UK, Europe and the Far East, and what they experienced with me.
You’ll look over my shoulder as I work with them. And you can then easily emulate my approach in your world.

And that doesn’t have to be in Pharma. It can be in any sector. Engineering. Electronics. Food and Drink. Whatever. Even non-manufacturing sectors. It takes effort, courage and dedication to get there. But it’s not rocket science. So, go for it. and enjoy the journey.

Check out the Case Studies in this website to see how a range of clients transformed their business with my TYM Program.
